The New Menu at Indochine

Delicious Vietnamese offerings
11 May, 2015

Indochine on Fort Street now has a delicious new dinner menu on offer. The dishes may be new, but Indochine stays true to what makes it such a popular lunch choice amongst city dwellers - authentic, flavourful food, perfectly crafted cocktails and excellent wine pairings.

The menu at Indochine focuses on Northern Vietnamese cuisine, dishes are prepared fresh every day with fragrant herbs, succulent, locally sourced meat and colourful vegetables. All of the dishes are created in the style of Hanoi street food, grilled to perfection over a charcoal BBQ, just like on the streets of Vietnam.

The new menu offers everything from warming winter soups - such as the popular Hanoi style Pho made with tender free range chicken, to satisfying BBQ beef rolls served with pineapple, fresh herbs and Vietnamese greens perfect for a cold winter's night and skewers of charcoal BBQ vegetables such as mushroom or corn.

The wine selection at Indochine is well thought out and definitely worth including in your meal, with boutique wineries found in New Zealand and France well represented on a small but impressive list of bottles, hand-picked for their ideal pairings with the Vietnamese fare on offer.

Here are the dishes we love from the new winter menu:

Bun cha
This comes with three single serves of succulent charcoal BBQ pork belly and pork mince, served on a bed of noodles and fresh herbs.
Pair with: Chateau Lalande Belair Merlot Cabernet 2011 - smooth and very easy to drink, a beautiful Bordeaux to enjoy with pork.

Tom nuong
A juicy pair of charcoal grilled King Tiger prawns, lovingly seasoned with lime, coriander and chilli.
Pair with: Westbrook Pinot Gris 2014 - with notes of pear, white lily, fennel and quince this is an ideal accompaniment to the tasty Tiger prawns.

Goi cuon
Fresh and fragrant rice rolls stuffed with prawn, a fresh salad with pork and green herbs - served with a dipping sauce.
Pair with: Gladstone Vineyard Rose 2014 - a pink wonder, with flavours of fresh berries and sweet spices to compliment the chilli dipping sauce.
