The humble kiwi pie has undergone a gourmet makeover, with organic ingredients and exotic flavours, at Celia's Pies shop in the Viaduct.

The shop's namesake and owner, Celia Hay, has a fine food pedigree: she's a restauranteur and an author, and in 1995 she established The New Zealand School of Food and Wine in Christchurch. The school has moved up to Auckland since the Christchurch earthquakes, offering full-time trade courses as well as short courses for the public, with topics like cocktails, coffee-making and sushi.

Celia says that New Zealand's top quality produce and our proximity to fresh ingredients are the key factors that allow her to produce the 'Perfect Pie'.

With ingredients like organic Pigeon Bay lamb, organic chicken and Hawke's Bay Merlot going into the pies, we think Celia's given us a great reason to indulge in a pie one lunchtime very soon.
