The Sprig & Fern Tavern has now closed.

The Sprig and Fern Tavern on Drake St is open now and is the place to head for real craft beer lovers, as well as those of you who just crave a good pint or wine in a pub with atmosphere. 

The tavern features:

- No TVs, pokies or pool tables
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Natural feel with lots of solid wood furniture
- Plenty of nooks to allow for more intimate conversations

Good pub food is available from the tried and true menu, and lots of entertainment over the weekends and quiz nights on every Tuesday at 7pm.  

All the beer in the Drake Street Tavern is brewed in Nelson at the Sprig and Fern Brewery.  The brewery itself was awarded 11 medals at the recent 2013 Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards in Wellington recently, which made it the jointly most awarded brewery in this prestigious international competition. Consistent quality is paramount, many beer commentators say S&F beers are "very sessionable" and there are 17 varieties always on tap to choose from plus seasonal brews. Sprig and Fern Taverns in Nelson consistently win awards, and in 2012 the Milton St Sprig was voted the Best Bar in NZ.
