Wynyard Quarter's 6th Birthday Celebrations

Wynyard Quarter's getting its party poppers out to celebrate its 6th birthday. From circus games, sailing boats and tango classes, to delicious street food stalls and a special Silo Cinema screening of Moana, there’s something for everyone.

Wynyard Quarter is growing up fast, join the celebrations for a fun family day out.

Here's the line-up of activities and events you can enjoy on the day.

Crossfit on the Wharf with Andfit
Silo Park – (Behind Silo 6) 8.30 - 9.30am

Join Andfit for a fun, friendly crossfit session for all levels of fitness amongst the beautiful Silo’s and the heritage marina.

Tai Chi with Rob Hunter
ANZ Viaduct Events Centre Platform – 10am-10.45am & 12pm-12.45pm

Join Rob Hunter with Tai Chi for the body, mind and spirit.

Westhaven Radio Sailing
Plaza steps – 10am-1pm

Join Westhaven Radio Sailing club and get amongst the joy of sailing and people having fun on the water with their remote control boats.

Auckland Seaplanes
Sealink – 10am-5pm

Seaplanes will have 50% off all children’s plane rides in celebration of Wynyard Quarter’s birthday.

Sustainable Coastlines Flagship Education Centre
Love your Coast – 10am-3pm

Join Sustainable Coastlines and give some love back to the local coastline. You are invited to The Flagship Education Centre from 10am for some good old fashioned coastal clean-up action. First you'll be educated, then you'll be taken for a clean-up on parts of the coast you wouldn't usually go to. On your return, you will enjoy some sustenance and analyse your spoils to gain valuable data on the picture of coastal litter in downtown Auckland. Simply come along with some good shoes and wet weather gear (in case!) and the team at Sustainable Coastlines will take care of the rest. 

Fire and Emergency New Zealand
Eastern Edge of Halsey Wharf – 10am-2pm

Fire and Emergency NZ will be onsite to talk to the community about fire safety in homes and businesses. Fire trucks will be open to public and there will be interactive activities with the Wendy House where children can learn and practice fire safety.

Ngati Whatua Orakei presents Poi making
Te Wero Island Containers – 10am-3pm

Learn how to make poi with Ngati Whatua Orakei.

Heritage Marina Classic Boats on Display
Silo Marina – 10am-4pm

These classic wooden beauties are some of the finest in Auckland’s fleet. The signal flags are up and the skippers aboard – wander down on to the pontoon for a friendly chin wag and check them out.

Food Space & Sounds
Silo Park – 10am-4pm

Lunch time at Silo Park is sorted with a delicious line-up of street food stalls and DJ.

Pacific Institute of Performing Arts (PIPA)
Te Wero Island Containers, Wynyard Crossing, North Wharf – 11am-12pm

Join PIPA on a journey of stories of Aotearoa and the Pacific told through colour, dance, song and chanting as they move through the Wynyard Quarter.

Maritime Museum presents SS Puke sailings
Karanga Plaza/Viaduct – 11am–3pm

The cutest steam ship you’ll ever sail on will be steaming up to run trips in the Viaduct for a gold coin donation. Sign up at the Maritime Museum tent.

The Open Fort​
Jellicoe Plaza – 11am-3pm

Wild streets will bring large scale outdoor games for interactive fun and activities.

Gutterboat Racing with Westhaven Marina
Silo park/playspace – 11am-3pm

Gutterboat racing is the best fun you can have on dry land. Check it out at the Westhaven Marina activity stand in Silo park near playspace and find out all the different ways of getting into boating at Westhaven. All equipment is provided but if you'd like to bring your own miniature boat to race - go ahead.

Cirque De Silo with 3 Ring Riot
Playspace, Silo Park – 12.30pm - 3.30pm

The 3 Ring Riot hosts a fun and colourful circus zone that has workshops for all ages and abilities, circus games and fun activities for the whole family.

Tango Dancing with Auckland Tango
Karanga Plaza under the shade sail – 2 - 5pm

Join in the timeless dance with Auckland Tango.

Silo Cinema – Moana
Silo Park – 3.30 - 5.30pm

An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfils the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
