Be part of something special as legendary singer-songwriter Troy Kingi lays bare his creative process and invites the audience to be part of conceiving, writing and performing an entirely original waiata in 60 minutes.

The audience gives Troy the genre and a key lyric. The timer starts, Troy goes to work. Bring your taonga puoro, bring your voices to be part of a doo-wop chorus, bring your hands to give Troy a hand-clap backing beat or simply sit back and watch the magic unfold.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity for a performing taonga to open the curtains to the writing process in a way that few audience members will ever have the privilege to see.

Haria mai ō taonga puoro, tukuna tō reo kia rere hei wāhi nō tētahi tira waiata doo-wop, pākia o ringa hei manawataki tūāpapa mā Troy, noho hāneanea noa mai rānei, ka rongo ai i te mīharotanga ka puea ake.

Kei mahue koe i tēnei kaupapa motuhake e huraina ai te tukanga tito e tētahi o ō tātou tino taonga whakangahau – he mea me uaua ka rangona e te whānuitanga o te whakaminenga."
