Shave for a cure

On Friday 15 March, at 12:00pm Farmers, Auckland CBD Store will be holding a large-scale event with Hilary Barry as MC and celebrities shaving heads to mark the launch of Shave for a Cure.

Hundreds of freshly-shaven heads will be out in force in March as Kiwis go bald for Shave for a Cure!

The annual week which has seen thousands of Kiwis go bald over the last 16 years will be held from March 18 – 24. Brave ‘shavees’ will raise money to support the estimated 21,000 New Zealanders living with a blood cancer or related blood condition.

Shave for a Cure is a great way to show support with blood cancer patients - many who lose their hair as a result of life-saving treatments such as chemotherapy.

Last year close to 2,000 individuals, businesses, schools and community groups shaved raising over $1.37 million for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).

LBC receives no government funding and Shave for Cure funds their work supporting New Zealand families living with a blood cancer or related condition.

Money raised from Shave helps fund emotional and practical support for patients – as well as education, patient advocacy and investment in research to find a cure.

If you are not brave enough to shave then feel free to donate to help make a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients www.shaveforacure.co.nz.
