Kahoa Tongan Garland Making Workshops

Sione Monu is an experimental, multidisciplinary Tongan artist and a core contributor to the queer, indigenous arts collective, FAFSWAG. He will be hosting two workshops.

Connecting place, people and the different environments in which he works, Sione Monu’s workshop brings together his extended family and the spiritual and ecological contexts of art-making in Tonga and Tāmaki Makaurau.

He will share insights from his experimental work with nimamea'a tuikakala, the Tongan fine art of flower design using the kahoa or Tongan garland.

Artist Sione Monu will be running his version of the traditional Tongan kahoa workshops using the Tongan fine art of flower design. Create a garland to take home.
