Told through a series of games, songs, dance and spoken word, Game Face is a joyfully anarchic critique of oppressive beauty ideals and the effort it takes to keep resisting them.

Drawing on personal experiences of eating disorders, depression and feeling estranged from your body, Game Face mocks the absurdities of our beauty myths with wit, warmth, dancing and donuts.

After sold-out London previews, Game Face debuts at Q Theatre as part of their Summer At Q season and Auckland Fringe 2020. Described by audiences as ‘the show about body image and insecurities we all wish we’d seen when we were 14’, Game Face is created and performed by a trio of international theatre-makers: Lucy Park (South Korea), Katie Paterson (UK) and Lexi Clare (New Zealand). Joining the cast for the New Zealand run of Game Face is guest performer Amanda Grace Leo.

"Game Face is a funny and thorough look at the unrealistic expectations that plague us, driven by money-making companies and the male gaze." -  Louise Penn, Loureviews

"The relatability of the piece is so powerful and so painful that it is almost too hard to stomach. And yet, Lexi Clare, Lucy Park and Katie Paterson, in their performances, create an atmosphere of understanding and comfort. This is not a show I would pass up on seeing a second, third or even fourth time." - Steph Hartland, Medium

Please note: Recommended 14+. This show explores themes of eating disorders and suicide. Balloons are used during the performance.
