Archived: Auckland Writers Festival

13-19 May 2019

Get ready for more than 230 of the world's finest writers who take to the streets, halls and a sparkling tent for more than 200 extraordinary events in the city's centre as part of the 19th Auckland Writers Festival. If you haven’t been before, come and join the party, and if you’re a Festival regular, welcome back!

The Festival brings the very best local and international writers of contemporary fiction and non-fiction, scientists, economists, poets, journalists and public intellectuals together with audiences to explore ideas, share stories and experience brilliant conversations.

Come along to this rich mix of voices from near and far. Plan to see not only those writers you know and love, but also those with interesting backgrounds and areas of interest including: American rock star and memoirist Jeff Tweedy, British historian Sir Antony Beevor; iconic Canadian writer and visual artist Douglas Coupland, award-winning English hiphop artist Akala, English writer Eugenia Cheng, South Africa's Sisonke Msimang, one of New Zealand's most loved writer Joy Cowley and many more.

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will be on stage, too, in this heady, seven-day mix of good times and  great ideas for people of all ages.

Tickets will be on sale via Ticketmaster from 9:00am on Friday 15 March.
