The Little Theatre: Aotearoa Arcade
Unitec Creative Industries and Piki Toi Artists Collective
'The Little Theatre' this year presents an interactive, screen-based Virtual Reality experience. The visual imagery that has been used to create this experience has been sourced from works by the Piki Toi Artists Collective, a central Auckland group of artists.
The audience will be able to interact with a digitally created environment through tactile control features located on the theatre’s structure. The activation of this will also enable the audience to hear the sound of Purerehua, a Māori musical instrument made by a member of Piki Toi.
LATE NIGHT ART: Tuesday 15 October, 5 - 9pm
The Little Theatre will host a VR experience using cardboard goggles that you can insert your smartphone into, this will enable you to access the content as an individual. This will require you to be able to access YouTube at the Theatre site.
Supported by Auckland Council and Chancery Square.
Changing Lanes is a collaborative project between Artweek and Heart of the City, bringing together projects that will transform Auckland’s urban spaces as part of Artweek.
The project aims to help create connections in our community, provide opportunities for artists and enhance public spaces. A selection of leading New Zealand artists will activate city centre laneways and these projects will reference Auckland's unique heritage and signal the changing nature of the city's urban spaces and potential future use of the sites.
Part of Artweek in the City Centre.
