American Express Restaurant Month

For 2018, American Express Restaurant Month will feature a new event focused on a novel and sustainable 4 course Mexican feast.
Mexico was home to one of the oldest centres of civilization on the planet, and over thousands of years developed a food culture so rich that in 2010 it was listed by UNESCO on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There's much more to Mexican than Tacos and Burritos and this is the event to learn something new through your dinner.  
To explore this enormous food tapestry, we sought out someone who knows the subject well - as did Barack Obama on his recent trip to Auckland when craving a Mexican feast. Luis Cabrera of Besos Latinos and his team have pulled from the bountiful pantry of Mexican cuisine and created a feast including Tamal - a Mexican delicacy made with mexican corn truffle masa gently steamed in corn husk, Barbacoa - lamb shoulder slow cooked inside blue agave leaves and Tlacoyo - organic blue corn flour pockets with black beans, nopal cactus, pico de gallo and fresh cheese. 
You will be served cactus and roasted crickets, but also lamb and Mexican almond chocolate tart. Dishes will be matched to tequila. This night will be something to remember. Get your tickets rápido!

Stone-ground red salsa with roasted green tomatillo and morita chilies with hand cut corn chips

Lightly crisped tortillas stuffed with shredded free range chicken topped with 6 chilies mole and toasted sesame seeds
Tlacoyo
Organic blue corn flour pockets with black beans, nopal cactus, pico de gallo and fresh cheese


Tamal
Mexican delicacy made with Mexican corn truffle masa gently steamed in corn husk
Taco
Marinated grass-fed Angus beef taco with chorizo, crispy pork skin and handmade soft corn tortillas
Sope
Artisanal ground maize corncake topped with refried beans, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and roasted crickets
