Literally Lorne

Heart of the City and Auckland Council are partnering with Writers Festival this year to deliver this fantastic new event.

Head along to Lorne Street and the surroundings area from 6pm for free readings, writing exercises, typography, special storytelling events and more!

There’ll be a specially commissioned short detective story from the Scotsman Liam McIlvanney read at the Central Library basement by ultraviolet torchlight; high-spirited writing exercises at the Academy Cinema; inspired writing at Gow Langsford art gallery; fun-and-games storytelling and typography at DesignWorks; and letters to James K. Baxter in the St James Theatre Lobby. Plus Friday Poem readings, and short poems with sweet cookies from The Receptionist coffee kiosk – all presented by an array of the writing great and good.

Join us for the perfect Friday night indulgence, at entirely no charge!

$2 per hour to a max of $12 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
