What's On in September: Your Entertainment Guide - The Spring Blossom Pop Up

This September, make the most of exciting events that are taking over the city centre, from a beautiful spring pop-up and wine tasting to stellar theatre productions and a celebration of women's Suffrage. 

We have selected the events that we think you simply can't miss.

The Spring Blossom Pop Up
7 September - 5 October, The Glass Goose

Celebrate the return of spring at this stunning pop up that's taking over The Glass Goose rooftop bar this September. Think cherry blossoms, floral vines, sugar-coated sweet treats and a selection of curated drinks including candyfloss wine-spritzers, frozen rosé slushies and popsicle sauvignon. 

Chicago
Ends 9 September, The Civic

Chicago has everything that makes Broadway and the West End great – a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz; one show-stopping song after another, the most sensational dancing; and a sharply sophisticated set which incorporates the 11-piece orchestra. It would be a crime to miss this incredible spectacle at The Civic.

Project Another Country

Make sure you catch this collaborative art installation at Auckland Art Gallery before it comes to an end in mid-September. Explore a model cardboard city created by artists and husband-and-wife duo Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan. You can contribute your own little creation by producing your own small cardboard house at one of the available workspaces. 

NZ Theatre Month
Ends 30 September, various venues

This month-long theatre extravaganza celebrates the local theatre scene by showcasing incredible New Zealand plays. Learn about the life of Kiwi astronomer Beatrice Hill Tinsley and her struggle for recognition in the US science world in Bright Star at Herald Theatre. Explore the complex moralities of modern war in Rendered by Stuart Hoar where six lives are inextricably entwined in a web of intrigue, danger and espionage. Experience just how much happens when nothings seems to be happening at all in Watching Paint Dry. There is something for everyone this September. 

Pinot Palooza
8 September, Shed 10

This wine festival features a line-up of the best Pinot producers from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. So grab your friends, soak up the music and drink your way across the globe.

Sunrise Celebration
19 September, Aotea Square

Join Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and MC Jennifer Ward-Lealand to honour the fight for gender equality in Aotearoa. Annie Crummer and New Zealand Poet Laureate Selina Tusitala Marsh will perform live, along with other women leaders and musical guests.

13 - 23 September, ASB Theatre Aotea Centre
