FRIDAY 19 AUG

10am  Paul Carmichael Masterclass (Momofuku Seiōbo - SYD) $80
 

Internationally acclaimed executive chef from New York’s Momofuku and now Sydney’s Momofuku Seiobo, Paul Carmichael, presents a 90minute masterclass giving an insight into what cooking is like at the very top end of the global restaurant scene. Enjoy an opportunity to hear about life at Momofuku, get to know Paul and try some of his dishes. Matching wines included.

 
1pm Scratch Bakery Masterclass with Jonny McKessar  $30
 

Handcrafted, delicious baked products is the philosophy behind Scratch Bakery. Join them for a masterclass in how to make that Gourmet Pie you’ve been dreaming of – from scratch. A hands on demonstration on how to roll the perfect pastry and bake that perfect pie.

 
4pm Food & wine matching with Ostro Brasserie & Bar $30
 

Enjoy a 30 minute demonstration matching wines to dishes designed by the team at Ostro. Take an opportunity to learn about matching wines with some of the hottest new dishes.

 
7pm Kyle Street Masterclass  (Depot/Federal Delicatessen) $60
 

For the past 5 years Kyle has been at the helm of the Depot & Federal Delicatessen kitchens, but this year he will be bringing something new and exciting to Restaurant Month in the Heart of the City. Behind the scenes he has been working on a project of his own, bringing a fresh dining concept to Auckland.  Join Kyle and his team for a demonstration and one-off sneak preview of some dishes he’s been perfecting for his new venture. 

 
9pm Cocktails in the kitchen with Cameron Attfield (The Lobby/Gin Room)  $25
 

Join one of Auckland City’s most skilled mixologists, Cameron Attfield, in a 30 minute demonstration on how to match cocktails to food. Enjoy an opportunity to taste some of Cameron’s most recent creations and learn to how a simple cocktail can be an amazing accompaniment to any dish.

 

 

SATURDAY 20 AUG

12pm  Gareth Stewart Masterclass (Euro) $60
 

Executive Chef of Euro Restaurant and previous host of My Kitchen Rules NZ, Gareth Stewart, presents some of his favourite dishes in this 90-minute masterclass. Enjoy an intimate session hearing about Gareth’s experience in running some of the top restaurants in New Zealand (Gareth is in charge of the menus for all 10 of the kitchens in the Nourish Group).  Enjoy this opportunity to discover what it is like in the fast paced New Zealand restaurant business. Tasting dishes included with wines to match.  

 
2pm 'Living off the land' Masterclass with Michael Dearth (The Grove) and Seresin Estate   $60
 

Take a masterclass in natural food and biodynamic wines with top restaurateur of The Grove Michael Dearth, and organic wine producer Seresin Estate. Learn how growing grapes and producing wine naturally does not mean a compromise in quality and why the perfect match to these wines is always wild and natural foods.

 
5pm Megan May Masterclass (The Unbakeries)  $60
  Megan May will take you through a 90 min fine dining raw organic food experience - showing you that sustainable plant based food is the future. You will see how to make and taste some her favourite dishes from cold pressed cocktails to a sumptuous chocolate desert, all made without gluten, dairy and refined sugars.  Megan is the creator of Little Bird Organics, the award winning Unbakery cafes and bestselling author of The Unbakery cookbook and recipe App.  
7pm How to stay warm this winter with Irina Franck (Pilkingtons)  $25
  Have Keith Ball and Jarrod McGregor from Auckland city bistro Pilkingtons, teach you what food and wines during the cold winter months will nourish and warm you up from the inside out.    
8pm Ice cream Masterclass with Giapo Grazioli from Giapo $40
 

Learn how Giapo Grazioli transforms the most popular dessert in the world into something fashionable and artistic. He’ll teach you how to pay attention to the smallest of details: textures, flavours, smells to truly appreciate the art of wonderful ice cream making.

 

 

SUNDAY 21 AUG

12pm  Jason Van Dorsten Masterclass (Cafe Hanoi) $60
 

Join executive chef of Metro top 50 heavyweight Cafe Hanoi, Jason Van Dorsten, for a 90-minute masterclass exploring the beauty of South East Asian cuisine. Watch Jason demonstrate how to make some of his favourite dishes, take an opportunity to discuss his take on modern food and enjoy a chance to taste his food, all accompanied by a matching wine.

Craft beer & home cured meats with Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen

Spend a Sunday afternoon indulging in a home cured meat and craft beer matching session, with the multi skilled masters of meat from Sweat Shop Brew. Learn the secret to successfully home curing your meat while matching them to some of New Zealand’s top craft beers.  

 
4pm The Caker Masterclass $40
 

Join Jordan Rondel, aka The Caker, for an evening of cake baking and decorating as she shares two of her favourite recipes with you. Start with a demonstration, then enjoy a hands on interactive session icing your own with guidance from the queen of cakes herself. All topped off with a glass of bubbles on arrival.
