City centre restaurants named amongst the best in New Zealand

The best chefs and restaurants in New Zealand have been revealed at the annual Cuisine Good Food Awards with a number of top city centre eateries making the cut. 

Purveyor of modern Indian fare Cassia received the award for Best Metropolitan Restaurant while Depot has been named Best Casual Dining Restaurant.

Another big winner was Tony Stewart of Clooney who received the Restaurant Personality of the Year award. The iconic restaurant was also awarded three ‘hats’ (Cuisine’s rating system of one, two or three hats).

Cassia, The Grill by Sean Connolly and The Sugar Club have been awarded two hats while Baduzzi, Culprit, Depot, Gusto at the Grand, MASU by Nic Watt and O'Connell St Bistro have received one hat. 

These excellenet results have shown that the city centre is a dining destination in its own right. Make sure to add these restaurants on your must-try list. 

Cuisine Good Food Awards recognise and celebrate New Zealand’s very best chefs, restaurateurs and food and drink experiences. The magazine enlists more than 40 experts who, over the course of the year, anonymously judge restaurants around the country to determine New Zealand’s best chefs and restaurants.
