Part of Christmas in the city centre

More details

December 19 2019 marks the second annual Late Night Christmas in the heart of the city, a wonderful late-night event which takes place in the week leading up to Christmas Day. On the night, the city centre transforms into the most magical place to get your last-minute Christmas shopping done, all in one place, with over 150 stores open late, all while an abundance of entertaining performances (over 90 in total) take place in public spaces and on the streets.

You can find the stores participating in Late Night Christmas plotted on our interactive map here for your convenience (simply click the Experience tab at the top, to find Late Night Christmas, then zoom in and out to see the stores.) Getting around

With so much to take in and experience on the night, and for some, a big shopping list to cross off, it's important to consider the most logical order to get it all done. The main precincts activated on the night are Britomart, with the majority of its great boutiques open late plus free Christmas gift wrapping and food trucks in Takutai Square and native trees available to take home for just a gold coin; the High Street District, home to some of the city's best homeware, gift and streetwear stores, Queen Street, which is adorned with beautiful decorations some of the city's best flagship and department stores, and Victoria Park, with stores open until 9pm on the night as part of their Christmas market that takes place every Thursday evening in December.
