Celebrating 10 years of creative family fun

Auckland Live Pick & Mix is celebrating its 10th Birthday with ten action-packed weekends of free, family-friendly weekend performances and workshops.

This year's line-up features an array of incredible local artists inluding the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Jandel J and the Funky Friends, National Youth Theatre Company and so many more.

With so many amazing workshops and events on offer, the 2018 programme undoubtedly offers something for everyone.

K-Pop for Kids
30 June, Aotea Centre

She’s danced with Beyoncé and Justin Bieber, choreographed for BoA, Cosmic Girls and SF9 – and now, Rina Chae and her crew are back with a high-energy K-pop show and dance workshop for kids.

The Elixir of Love
7 July, Aotea Centre

Introduce your tamariki to the wonderful world of opera with this charming and humorous adaptation of Donizetti's The Elixir of Love (sung in English). After the performance, everyone gets a chance to learn a role and join in the fun for a final sing-along! 

Sugar Plum Family Fun
14 July, ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre

Dancers from the Royal New Zealand Ballet will perform excerpts from classical and contemporary works and teack kids some simple ballet steps and positions.

21 July, Aotea Centre

Join Jandel J and the Funky Friends in an exciting new adventure told through storytelling, humour and dance and learn from the masters of physical theatre.

28 July, Auckland Town Hall

Hawaiki TŪ is an Auckland-based company of Māori artists specialising in haka theatre. Watch aspects of Māori performance through dance, waiata and haka. Flow in wairua with Hawaiki TŪ. Learn the fundamentals of Māori movement and discover your ihi, wehi and wana.

The Messy Magic Adventure
4 August, Aotea Centre

Fire up your imagination in an all-ages workshop, making up stories to create onstage fun! Rollicking Entertainment uses circus, illusion and sideshow to make original theatre which tells New Zealand stories.

11 August, Auckland Town Hall

Come along and meet the notorious Big Bad Wolf and his wolf pack, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rumpelstiltskin, but most importantly help Spinderella get to the show! Learn one of the dances from the show and explore how to create and perform your own fairytale.

Kids Takeover - Stars of Tomorrow

Join the National Youth Theatre Company for a musical experience you’ll never forget! Whether you love theatre or are a beginner, come along and have some fun acting, singing and dancing. 

The Golden Pig
25 August, Aotea Centre

The Golden Pig is a digital puppetry show set in a fantasy world of wizards and kings. Learn how to create your very own fairytale characters, and make them come to life on screen.

Beyond Bollywood
1 September, Auckland Town Hall

Learn to dance Bollywood-style and have some fun embracing Indian culture. Award-winning choreographer Monisha Kumar brings the best of Bollywood to Pick & Mix with dancers from the Monisha Kumar Dance Company, Garagewala and guests.
