Allbirds, the hugely popular global footwear brand co-founded by New Zealander Tim Brown has announced plans to open its first New Zealand store in the Britomart precinct this coming August.
Founded and led by Brown and co-founder Joey Zwillinger from their Silicon Valley headquarters, the five-year-old footwear brand has been dubbed as having 'the world's most comfortable shoe' and is known for its beautiful and innovative design, comfort and world-leading sustainable credentials. After years of researching and tinkering, Brown (former All Whites football captain) and Zwillinger, an engineer and renewables expert teamed up to create a revolutionary wool fabric made specifically for footwear. The outcome was their Allbirds woolrunner shoe - which has since led to many other designs in an entirely new category of footwear inspired by natural materials, and an ongoing mantra to create better things in a better way. The company has since come a long way - in a short space of time. For their full story, head to their website here.
