Maritime Museum's popular Mid-Winter Music sessions are back this season with live music from May to August.
The free weekend music sessions feature a mixture of artists with something to please everyone.
The Orlando Singers Choir will kick off the season on Saturday 6 May at 11.30am. The 14 voice a cappella choir will perform a maritime-themed concert suitable for both young and old.
On 11 June, the popular Katherine Mowbray is back with Harp, Art and Storytelling. The talented Celtic harpist performed at the museum last year and was hugely popular. Her music is blended around original compositions of the Bardic tradition intermingled with folk, blues and gospel. Her performance will be accompanied by art activities for the kids.
On Sunday 9 July, musical collaboration Wai Tai will perform the wairua-imbued sounds of Maori-World music. The songs are embodied by the call of the feminine voices, earthy percussions and delicate strings. The lyrics are in both Maori and English and the arrangements are a carefully crafted soundscape.
Mid-Winter Music is free with your Maritime Museum entry ticket. Entry into the museum is free for Aucklanders.
