Holiday Workshops

Get creative over the school holidays and join one of Auckland Art Gallery's special studio workshops. Upcoming workshop themes include; ‘Frame Me’, ‘Mystery Cassoni’, and ‘Shield Me,’ all inspired by the stunning Corsini Collection. 

Studio workshops are offered for ages 6–8 and 9–13. Bookings for the spring school holiday programmes are open now – see details below.

Creative Learning Centre

Explore, experiment, create and share in the Todd Foundation Creative Learning Centre. Located on the mezzanine level, the hands-on, family-friendly space is open daily 10am–5pm and is free to visit.

The latest family-friendly installation Once Upon a Time in ART is now open.

Explore the world of symbols in art to create your own meaning and stories, or transform yourself into the character of your choice. Have fun in this new interactive installation designed for kids and families, and learn how artists – from the past and today – use symbols to convey meaning through their work.

Drop-in sessions

Free family drop-ins take place every Saturday between 1-3pm. Create art together with the whole family during these sessions inspired by art currently on display.

There is no need to book, although participation is limited by space. Sessions are designed for children aged 4 and up. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Check exact location with the Gallery Assistants at our information desk when you arrive.

Story Corner

The Story Corner is a quiet space for families to enjoy books that relate to themes in our current exhibitions. The space is located in the south atrium on the ground level.

Gallery Games

Our Gallery Games and activities encourage fun, shared-learning experiences for families and groups with children at the Gallery.

Gallery Games are free and available every day between 10am – 4pm. Download games below before your visit or pick the activities up on the day. Paper-based activities are available to keep, while others are available for borrowing during your visit. Ask at the information desk for more details.
