Archived: January Music Line-Up

Auckland Live Summer in the Square
23 December, 2016

Auckland Live Summer in the Square continues in the new year with a great music line-up featuring local and international musicians, bands and DJs, kicking off on Monday 9 January.

Spend your lunch break soaking up the sunshine while listening to some great tunes or join us on a Friday or Saturday evening in Aotea Square.

Below are our top picks from the January programme:

Borneo
Monday 9 January, 12.30 – 1.15pm

First day back at work? Avoid the post-holiday blues by spending your lunch break with this vibrant five-piece band from Australia.

DJ Sal Valentine
Saturday 14 January, 3.00pm – 6.00pm

Part of the Vintage Weekend, the swinging sultan of soulful strutting (and so on) will make you swoon this afternoon.

Polyester
Wednesday 18 January, 12.30pm – 1.15pm

Formerly known as Kip McGrath and the hardest band to google, Polyester is made up of the summer-friendly indie-poppers you’ve been waiting for.

Weyes Blood
Tuesday 24 January, 12.00 – 12.45pm

Natalie Mering (USA) sings folk music, but not as you know it. Her painful, poignant riddles celebrate the ambiguity of love in a disharmonic world.

Tiny Ruins with Archie
Saturday 28 January, 6 – 8.30pm

Hollie and her band have toured internationally, had glowing reviews, and collaborated with the likes of David Lynch. Their recent Auckland shows sold out, so don’t miss your chance to see Tiny Ruins live (and for free) this summer.
