The 2015 Auckland Lantern Festival is a popular annual event that this year will honour the Chinese ‘Year of the Sheep/Goat’.

Now in its 16th year, the festival will take place on 26 February to 1 March 2015 at Albert Park and will include the spectacular Chinese lantern artworks, entertainment and absolutely delicious street food that you've come to expect from this cultural event. 

Highlights of Auckland’s largest Chinese festival include:

  • The spectacular illumination of over 800 handmade Chinese lanterns
  • A street full of stalls selling delicious Asian delicacies and crafts
  • Lantern making demonstrations
  • Lantern only night on Thursday 26 February – enjoy the lanterns without the crowds
  • Stunning on-stage performances of traditional and contemporary Chinese culture including martial arts, dance and live music
  • Grand finale fireworks display at 10.30pm on Sunday 1 March
  • Cultural theatre productions – The Two Farting Sisters and Under the Same Moon
