Which Egg was most popular at the Charity Auction?

Over $160,000 was raised at the first charity auction for The Big Egg Hunt NZ last week. Raising funds for Starship hospital this fabulous activation has seen our central city streets filled with beautiful artworks that suprise and delight passers by.

Twenty giant egg artworks (and one beautiful photograph of an egg) created by leading New Zealand artists were auctioned at The Big Egg  Grand Gala & Auction attended by more than 250 people and held at Auckland Museum.

Artists whose eggs were auctioned by Webb's include David Trubridge, David McCracken, Dick Frizzell, Fiona Pardington (photograph), Gregory O'Brien, Gregor Kregar, Hye Rim Lee, Jeffrey Thomson, John Reynolds, John Pule, Julia Holden, Julia Morison, Karl Maughan, Louise Purvis, Lyonel Grant, Max Gimblett, Michel Tuffery, Nigel Brown, Seraphine Pick, Tanja Jade and Virginia King. 

The top bid was $22,000 for Virginia King’s egg ‘Wing and a Prayer’.

The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt is the first campaign of its kind in the southern hemisphere. 100 eggs were created by New Zealand designers and creatives for the inaugural Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt in support of Starship.
